Sir William Tyrell (played by Mark Norman) is the local magistrate. Having never dealt with an accusation of witchcraft before, he is intrigued and summons both Latimer and Margery so that he can go over the details and decide how the case should proceed. What decision will he make?
Margery Scrope (played by Tracey Norman) is a destitute healer and midwife who must defend herself against Latimer's accusation. Does she really harbour ill-feeling towards the Latimer family, or does the accusation against her stem from ignorance and misunderstanding?
Is it witchcraft or is it nothing more than a squabble between neighbours? And what effects have the socio-economic conditions of the day had on the three characters' lives?
Latimer is determined to take action, forcing Sir William to intervene.
